Greetings, I have just returned from a fruitful trip to Haiti. In Port-au-Prince, I was able to deliver clothes for the needy, and I was able to deliver gifts of money to be used for the poor. Because neither the phone nor e-mail communication reached my contacts there, I sent a letter two weeks ahead of time to announce my intended trip. However, I beat the letter and had to provide transportation for myself. It's been a while since I have had to do that. After traveling to Montrouis, I spoke in two church services. The message in the first one was based on Luke 5:36 (patching an old garment with a new patch). The second message was on the bondage of greed. I also taught in a five-day conference as planned.
Because other plans did not come to fruition, I spent several days at the Discipleship Center in Montrouis without a schedule, so I was able to spend time with seven new children who are the beginning of the orphanage. Six were there when I arrived, and the seventh was delivered while I was there. His name is Wilson, and although he is five years old, he was smaller than the three-year-olds. This was the first time I was able to observe closely the affects of malnutrition in a child. He'd come from the mountain and there is a question of whether or not he will live. If he had stayed where he was, he would probably have died within two months. As it is, he needs our prayers. He is now receiving nutrition and care and has been examined by a pediatrician. But, five years without proper food has left its toll. Please join with me in prayer that his life and purpose in God will be fulfilled. I am now preparing for this summer, when I will spend six weeks of ministry in four African countries. I will again be going to Zimbabwe and Zambia and will also be visiting South Africa and Swaziland. I will be teaching in these countries to pastors. Also, I will be delivering materials to pastors for the beginnings of Bible Schools. Last year in Zimbabwe and Zambia, I was able to begin this work, which is spreading into more of Africa. I have already prepared a curriculum of materials, with a textbook on the Bible--from Genesis to Revelation--and video instruction to go with it. These basics are greatly needed by the pastors in Africa. I also have audio cassettes for those who do not have access to video. My current plan is to get the video onto DVDs, which should be more durable in the African climate. With travel and ministry costs increasing for me, I am preparing a support mechanism for those who desire to be involved. First, there is a tremendous need for prayer. Pray for me and my family as well as those to whom I minister. Also, pray that we may be fruitful in the Biblical training schools. These are truly our biggest needs. Those who wish to help financially can either purchase products from www.mypassportonline.net/jkite/ or send contributions to Agape Fellowship stating 'missions' on the check (Click here for Agape Fellowship's address). Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Joseph Kite Agape Fellowship pastor@agape-fellowship.org |
